March is here and Spring is in the air! That means it’s time for the GetResponse Graphics Team to introduce the new monthly desktop wallpaper!

Of course, it won’t change the course of history, but it could make your day just a little more enjoyable, right?! I know I was quite curious about the theme for this “in between” month of the year.

While the weather may not be the best in most regions of the world, March brings the promise of Spring − when the birds begin to sing and everything starts to wake up after the long winter hibernation. That’s why we decided to give you a vision of Spring in the new GetResponse desktop wallpaper, represented by a tree showing fresh new life with it first leaves .

As usual, you can choose from the 5 most-common resolutions, so everyone can get high-quality GetResponse wallpaper every month!

Below you’ll find links to GetResponse wallpapers ready for download. Enjoy!

Hi all, it’s Mick Griffin here. After making some great connections and getting some great insights into Email Marketing at Email Summit in Miami, I’m heading out on the road for more of the same!

Per usual, I will be meeting with some of our fantastic customers, and pitching to some new ones. But I will also be working on a top secret GetResponse project… more to follow on that soon.

Below you’ll see where I’m headed during the month of April. If you’d like to hear more about GetResponse, or you’re already one of our customers, I would be happy to meet you and chat. Please contact me at mick.griffin@implix.com to arrange a meet up!

This conference is produced by New Marketing Labs and was founded by Marketing Guru Chris Brogan. The one-day event will cover exciting new developments in Marketing, including such topics as Sales 2.0 and integrating online and offline customer experiences. I’m looking forward to hearing from Chris and the other great speakers at this event.

This huge marketing event draws more than 10,000 attendees every year. With many of our valued customers attending the event, it’ll be a great chance to meet up and learn more about their needs. The list of speakers and topics is amazing…it’s going to be a great learning experience!

Ah, my personal favorite as this takes me to my native England. Internet World’s been around since the 90s, but this is the first year GetResponse will attend. It’s really a “must” for digital marketers, so glad I’m going to represent. This single event delivers Europe’s largest free education program on everything Internet, so brain…be prepared to absorb!

Keep my agenda handy just in case. Always looking for meet ups!

As you all know, GetResponse is used by marketers all over the world. We deliver 5B emails every year, and the number’s climbing! We certainly have the volume, so we’ve been conducting all kinds of studies to learn more about how marketers use GetResponse and what kind of results they’re getting. Today we’re excited to reveal the results of our “2010 Email Marketing Trends Survey”.

We asked a survey group of over 200 SMB email marketers from a wide range of industries and countries to share their opinions regarding hot topics like video emails, social media integration, and the “war on inbox clutter”. We hope you find these stats interesting and useful as you continue to improve your email marketing campaigns.

Happily, it appears SMB marketers are becoming increasingly convinced of the benefits of video email, social media, and personalization or targeting. More than 80% of respondents plan to use video emails in 2010 and more 90 % plan to integrate social media into their email campaigns this year. Almost 64% of SMB marketers who use video emails claimed that it delivers significant increases in conversion rates. Compared to last year’s results, these increases represent a:

480 % Increase in Video Email Usage and 90 % Increase in Social Media Integration for 2010.

That’s awesome!

In general, the SMB email marketer’s toolkit is looking a lot more sophisticated and media-rich than at any time in recent history. That’s very gratifying to us. It tells us that GetResponse tools are user-friendly and affordable, even at the advanced level.
Here are a few highlights of the survey:

Video email marketing: Over 50% of respondents stated that video emails can increase CTR. One of three marketers believes that video can enhance brand image and/or increase customer loyalty. Over 20% of marketers believe that video emails can also reduce support and training costs. Only 4.7% email marketers do not see any benefits from using video emails.

Social media: A 113.2% increase in use of links to new messages on social media pages; a 109.1% increase in use of sign-up forms on Facebook, etc. fan pages; 88.8% will increase share options and 71.6% more will place “follow us” links in email messages.

Personalization: 53.80% of SMB respondents said they intend to increase targeting and personalization in 2010; 52.40% will try to improve email title and subject line personalization.

Behavioral targeting: Nearly 75% of marketers claim that behavioral targeting can result in significant or moderate increases in email marketing effectiveness. Only 2.8% did not consider behavioral targeting an effective practice.

Where do your results fit into the email marketing picture for 2010? Are you ahead of the curve? We hope so! Download the whole report from here to find out!

4. Next, please enter your API KEY and the name of the campaign to which customers will be added after they purchase.

5. Check to make sure your API KEY and campaign name were typed correctly. If everything is ok, click the “Update” button.

6. You should see the set-up plugin on your screen. To make sure everything is up and running, you can test it by purchasing a product in your shop. REF is set to your osCommerce shop name. City, country and telephone values will be added as contact custom fields. The new contact will also be placed at the beginning of the follow-up cycle.

That’s it! Anyone who buys a product by clicking the button as set up above will be added to your campaign automatically! What an easy way to grow your list and jumpstart your follow-up sales campaigns!

We are excited to announce that, effective immediately, GetResponse Affiliate Program commissions will increase from 30% to 33% on all direct sales! Thanks to the productivity and profits our affiliates generated over the years, we now have the opportunity to offer this super direct sales incentive, and I have the pleasure of announcing it!

Here’s what’s happening: the new compensation program will have one tier, instead of two, to encourage direct sales and make it easier for MORE affiliates to become million-dollar earners! Yes…we like to make those payouts!

Here are some frequently asked questions (and answers) you may have about this change:

1. Does the commission increase apply only to GetResponse, or to other Implix products I can promote as a GetResponse affiliate (WebsiteWizard, EbookGold, Hypertracker)?
The increase will apply to ALL Implix products − your commissions will now be 33% instead of 30%.

2. Does the commission increase apply only to new sales (generated after the increase was announced) or to all commissions that I currently earn as an affiliate?
The increase applies to ALL tier-one commissions. Your check will increase by up to 10%!

3. I used to have 2nd tier commissions − what will happen to them?
As we have removed the 2nd tier from our affiliate program, you will no longer receive those commissions and they will be removed from your account. However, your direct sales commissions will be increased from 30% to 33%.

4. Why did you remove the 2nd tier?
After careful analysis of affiliate feedback, we realized that the 2nd tier was no longer popular, and changed the program structure to better meet their needs.

As always, we are here to answer questions about the commission increase and any other concerns you may have. Just let us know if you need any help – and congrats to all of you!

We would like to share with you an extremely interesting and useful set of stats, with a different slant. Have you ever wondered how your email response rates stack up against other email marketers in your country? How about how the response rates of other continents compare to yours’? Did you just assume they would be similar? Get ready to be surprised!

Our most recent study took on the world! We analyzed over 1.6 billion GetResponse emails sent from 95 countries and six continents! The results we got are the facts – only the facts – so no country or regional prejudices allowed! Let’s take a look:

Highlights from our Email Metrics by Continents Study:

The average open rate in North America was 10.76%. Europe was the clear leader with 13+%, more than 60% higher than the low score of 8.08%, delivered by Australia and Oceania.

More than 40 out of every 100 recipients who opened a message sent from Europe clicked on a link. In North America, less than one out of every three opened and clicked on a link.

In Asia, one of every four subscribers who clicked on an email link did it twice. In North America, just one out of eight clicked on a link twice.

North America had the highest bounce rate (2.17%) and the second highest complaint rate (0.12%) among all the continents. (South America came in first with 0.13%).

Australia returned the lowest bounce, complaint, and unsubscribe rates.

Of course, that’s just a sampling of the global email metrics. But don’t worry…we’ve got this study ready for distribution today! We really hope these stats will provide insights into areas of email marketing that need improvement, and areas that are doing well. – plus it’s totally FREE! You can download it HERE.

Just click to get your copy of the GetResponse “Email Marketing Metrics Around the World” and use these results to keep improving your email marketing campaigns − or maybe engage in some healthy competition?

As the world celebrates Safer Internet Day, GetResponse continues its decade-long commitment to the safety and security of your email lists. As part of an ongoing effort to improve security for all our accounts, we’re rolling out an important security upgrade and a new password policy today.

The next time you log in to your GetResponse account, you will be asked to reset your password.

For years we’ve maintained a “password reminder” feature that lets you receive an email with a reminder in case you forgot. While the old system was very secure and the data was encrypted, we are now upgrading our password policy and adding a near military-grade encryption, which is virtually uncrackable.

So what does this mean to you?
When you log in to GetResponse again, you’ll see a screen like the one below and you’ll be asked to change your password.

You’ll need to click on the Reset button, and we’ll send you an email with a “Reset password” link. Click on that link, and you’ll be taken to a webpage where you can enter a new password. You’ll notice a new feature that shows your password strength as you enter your new password:

Your new password must contain at least 8 characters, must include uppercase letters (A-Z), lowercase letters (a-z), and at least one digit (0-9), or at least special character (!, @, #, % etc.). If you need some inspiration, you can check here or here.

In the unlikely event that you don’t receive the “Reset Password” email today, please contact Customer Service.

This entire process shouldn’t take more than a minute or two, but it’s critically important to protect your account with the latest and the best protocols.

Why are we making this change?

Two reasons:
1. To make your account more secure. Recently we’ve conducted a security audit and as a result we’ve found that many of our customers chose passwords that were just not strong enough, based on current data. The security of your lists is absolutely essential, and today’s upgrade will take it to a higher level.

2. To ensure compliance with the PCI DSS standard. PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) – a set of comprehensive requirements for enhancing data security. At GetResponse, we’re going to mirror these same high-grade security features that are already protecting your credit card transactions, and apply them to further protect your email marketing campaigns. The new password policy is part of that process.

We believe that GetResponse is the only email marketing company that has taken these aggressive steps to ensure the security of its customer accounts, campaigns, lists and data. We appreciate your cooperation in this effort.
